Jamie McCaffray secured his first national medal at the Swim England National Open Water Festival
Jamie McCaffray secured his first national medal at the Swim England National Open Water Festival!
The plan was the same as Jamie had practiced in Box End at the club open water sessions: Flat out max till the first turning buoy and getting into a good position in the front pack. This went even better that expected as Jamie was leading by good 5m after the first lap and only two boys managed keep up with him. At the second lap Jamie had to give a little on a killer pace as the other boys still were close so it was better to save his energy for the finish. After the second lap all other swimmers were miles away so a medal position was almost 100%.!There was a big battle between the three boys and there were only few seconds different between them. Jamie won bronze in 3km which is his first ever British medal.
