Mighty success for Modernian Swimming Club!
Modernian SC had 4 swimmers qualify for the National Age Group Open Water Championships held in Sheffield a few weeks ago; Chloe Lence, Jamie McCaffray and siblings Max and Tia Wilson. All 4 also qualified for British Nationals and ASA Summer Nationals as well as Nick Stalley who qualified for Swim Wales Nationals and McCaffray who qualified for the Scottish Swimming Nationals.
Lence swam her heart out in the 3km open water event and claimed Bronze with McCaffray racing in the equivalent male event and after a tough battle narrowly missing out on a bronze having to settle for 4th place.
All of our swimmers acquitted themselves well in each and every event making it one of the best seasons the club has seen in recent years. Head Coach, Balázs Sasvári, was delighted with their performance ‘I was very pleased and proud to be the coach of a National Medalist, Chloe had worked hard all season and deserved this accolade’
As a result of his swims at nationals, McCaffray has been selected to join the Scottish Swimming Youth Development Programme and will be flying to Cyprus in October to represent Scotland in an International Open Water event.
