Overall, the Modernian team raced well and used the long course opportunity to post a lot of seasons best times as well as long course personal bests.
The junior girls found it tough after racing a meet or two short course over the last few weekends. The seniors who are more established long course swimmers swam a better.
This is obviously a very exciting time for the club. Some of you may not know much about myself so I thought I’d do a little introduction before we dive in at the deep end so to speak.
I started coaching swimming at the age of 16 after sustaining an injury that kept me out of the water for 3 months, and I was hooked. I continued coaching after gaining my BSc degree in Physical Education and Sports Science at Loughborough University. I have previously coached at Modernians, City of Cambridge SC, Biggleswade SC, Mid Beds SS.
Modernian SC is delighted to announce that Vicky Simpson is joining us as our new Head Coach and Ian Douglas has been appointed as the Director of Swimming.
Vicky is an experienced coach having previously coached at other clubs in the region. She is also an experienced swimming teacher and has previously managed teaching schemes in the region and continues to be an ASA tutor. Vicky is an ex-Modernian herself, having started as a competitive swimmer when Charlie Wilson (the club founder) was our head coach. Vicky will be joining us in the new year.
Ian Douglas was our Chief Coach and is to take on the mantle of Director of Swimming. Ian has been a Modernian for many years having started as a swimmer and gone on to teach and coach with the club and has been our Chief Coach for the last five years.
This is an exciting time for the club with the appointment of Vicky as our Head Coach and Ian as our Director of Swimming. We wish them both well in their new appointments.
Thank you to all for your continued support of Modernian SC.
